Yeshua our model prayer

model prayer

Yeshua taught prayer to his disciples by example:

WHY DID HE PRAY FOR?

After teaching and healing by day, and slepping some hours He spend the rest of the night in prayer. “ Men ought always to pray and not to faint” (Luke 18:1).

He always prayed alone and took time to do so:

"And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed." (Mark 1:35)

"And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone." (Matthew 14:23)

"And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed." (Luke 5:16)

FOR WHAT DID HE PRAY?

Yeshua prayed for everybody and everything.

Giving thanks before eating: "And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude." (Matthew 14:19)

"And as they were eating, Yeshua took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples" (Matthew 26:26)

In Blessing children: "Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray" (Matthew 19:13)

For Peter and Lazarus: “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” ( Luke 22:31-32 )

" Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Yeshua lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me." (John 11:41-42)

For All of Us Messianic Jews: "These words spake Yeshua , and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true Elohim , and Yeshua Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:1-17)

In times of trouble: "And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray. And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt."( Mark 14:32-36)

For Enemies: "Then said Yeshua , Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)

For the Conforter, The Holy Spirit: "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever" (John 14:16)

For the Present Ministry: "But this man (Yeshua ), because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto Elohim by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. " (Hebrews 7:24-25)

HOW DID HE PRAY?

He said in Matthew 21:22 :

"And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive".

What kind of believing was He talking about?

The kind that admits that only Elohim can fill our hearts with the faith enough to receive, or in other words, a humble heart unto the Lord. Lets see it explain by Christ Himself:

"And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. Yeshua said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. When Yeshua saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. But Yeshua took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation." (Mark 9:17)

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT VERSE IN THE TORAH ABOUT PRAYER FOR YESHUA?

Yeshua answer:
“Shema Israel, YHWH elohenu, YHWH echad. …” “Hear, O Israel: The YHWH our Elohim, YHWH is one. Love YHWH your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” (Deut. 6:4-9). That is The Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-39) according to Mashiach and He prayed The Shema twice a day, every day of His life. Naturally, He used the Shema coupled with the amendment to “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Lev 19:18). So let´s do it as He did, everyday.

WHEN DID YESHUA USE PRAYER INTERCESSION?

And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? (Genesis 4:9)

Elohim really want us to be our brothers and sisters keepers. He wants us to keep others in need in our daily prayers; sometimes we even have the urge to interced for a person without even knowing why: we awake in the middle of the night with a sense of danger and we pray for everyone we can think of or we have an image or name o somebody we hardly know. Later we find that somebody in real problems or danger has been miracly spare.

Yeshua showed us how and when to do it:

And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me. (Luke 22:34)

Yeshua was no only seen the weakness that Peter was going to experience in the future when he will deny his Lord 3 times but was praying so Peter will continue to be a faithfull christian. At the same time Mashiach was telling him to do the same for others, as He is telling us now.

We are always to be ready to hear the warnings of the Holy Spirit: we will have visions, hear voices, read a verse in the bible, hear a commentary from others, or have a sense of urgency during the day or a night well . Responde to those callings and Elohim will use you with power in the lives of others.

Feed the flock of Elohim which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over Elohim 's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for Elohim resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of Elohim , that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the Elohim of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Yeshua , after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (Peter I 5:2-11)

Daily Torah - Bible Verses

How do we apply scripture to real life as Messianic Jews - Nazarene?

Our sole purpose in life is to love and glorify Elohim, read the Torah everyday and follow all it's commandments through the Hebrew roots of our faith

We comply with what our Lord Yeshua said in Matthew 28:20 "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you" and only then you could be "persuaded in your own mind."

Therefore, "Let no man therefore judge you in food, or in drink, or in respect of an holiday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days" (Col 2:16)

In these pages you will find how you and us as Messianic Jews- Nazarene following the whole Torah applying it to real life and live a successful and meaningful existence as observants of Torah, answering all our questions through it and through Yeshua the Messiah.

Why we use Hebrew names here

Messianic Jews - Nazarene love Elohim and use the original names of the Tanakh - Hebrew Bible in their daily prayers and in their congregations. The words "Jesus" and "Jehova" are not the original names that appear in the Tanakh - Hebrew Bible or the Greek New Testament. They are transliterations that all have use for so many centuries that almost become true. The real names are Yeshua and Elohim. Read More
