The Law of Moses was never abolished

The Law of Moses was never abolished. Yeshua (Jesus)said that we should keep it.

Matthew 5:17-18 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

And He kept on saying that anyone who does not teach it, will be small in His Kingdom

Matthew 5:19 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

Yeshua also made a prophesy that was supposed to happen almost 40 years later, in the year 70 AD, with the destruction of the Temple of Salomon. Somehow Yeshua knew that the people of that day will be keeping the Law of Moses (Torah) at that time, meaning the Sabbath day (saturday), because they were not allowed to go anywhere on that sacred day.

Matthew 24:20 "But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day"

Yeshua also stated again, in Matthew 23: 1-3 , that the complete Law of Moses was to be keep as part of His commandments:

Matthew 23:1-3 “Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, (2) Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: (3) All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

As we can see they bid to observe and keep the Law of Moses, and Yeshua is telling his Messianic Jews or messianic jews (us too) to do the same but not the unspiritual way they did it. Yeshua never went against the Law of Moses, he went again the "commandments of men": "the Oral Law".

The "Oral Torah" includes the legal and interpretative traditions made by the Rabbis of the Torah, not the actual Law of Moses. These interpretations were passed down orally through the ages, and later were codified and written in the Talmud, the Mishnah and Midrash. As Yeshua said: Mat 23:4 "For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders" . Remember, the Talmud, the Mishnah and Midrash are interesting books, but they are not the Torah, so You don't have to obey any of them.

Matthew 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

Probably you believe, or you heard that the Law of Moses was abolished. If that is true, then Matthew 22:36-40 does not apply to us now, since Yeshua is quoting from the Law of Moses (Deuteronomy 6:5 and Deuteronomy 19:18)

Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Yeshua said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Naturally, you and I know that those two commandments are part of our evangelical churchs and beliefs. So, we can see that the Law of Elohim is still being apply, or it is that we choose which parts of the Torah are useful or not? Naturally, not.

Also, Paul, a Messianic Jews or messianic jew, talked about the Law of Moses in good terms.

Romans 3:31 "Do we then make void the law through faith? Elohim forbid: yea, we establish the law." and Romans 7:12 "Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good."

And even the followers of Yeshua kept the Torah (messianic jews).

Luke 23:55 "And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment."

So as we can clearly see, in the first 40 years of christianity the Law of Moses was kept by the followers of Christ. Let´s see some more examples:

Acts 18:18 "And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow ( a jewish commandment of the Old Testament)."

Acts 20:6 "And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread (one of the Feasts of the Elohim in the Law of Moses), and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days."

Acts 20:16 "For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost (another Feast of Elohim in the Law of Moses)."

Acts 21:19-20 "And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things Elohim had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry. And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law (they kept the Law of Moses):

Acts 21:26 "Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them. " (Paul kept the Law of Moses)

Paul also did everything based on the whole Bible (scripture):

Acts 22:12,19 "And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there (19) And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee (christians were getting together in the sinagoges)

Acts 24:11,14; 25:8 "Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship. (24:14) But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the Elohim of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets"( 25:8) While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.”

Was the Law of Moses abolished? Are we sure? Where is the poof of that?

It is time you decide for yourself.

Daily Torah - Bible Verses

How do we apply scripture to real life as Messianic Jews - Nazarene?

Our sole purpose in life is to love and glorify Elohim, read the Torah everyday and follow all it's commandments through the Hebrew roots of our faith

We comply with what our Lord Yeshua said in Matthew 28:20 "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you" and only then you could be "persuaded in your own mind."

Therefore, "Let no man therefore judge you in food, or in drink, or in respect of an holiday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days" (Col 2:16)

In these pages you will find how you and us as Messianic Jews- Nazarene following the whole Torah applying it to real life and live a successful and meaningful existence as observants of Torah, answering all our questions through it and through Yeshua the Messiah.

Why we use Hebrew names here

Messianic Jews - Nazarene love Elohim and use the original names of the Tanakh - Hebrew Bible in their daily prayers and in their congregations. The words "Jesus" and "Jehova" are not the original names that appear in the Tanakh - Hebrew Bible or the Greek New Testament. They are transliterations that all have use for so many centuries that almost become true. The real names are Yeshua and Elohim. Read More
