The Observance of Torah, a key element of Messianic Jewish Practices

New

The word mitzvot (commandments) is plural; singular is mitzvah (commandment). Of the 613 mitzvot, 248 commandments are positive (do), and 365 commandments are negative (do); many of these commands (like all the commandments related sacrifices) are not feasible, since there is not a temple in Jerusalem, in addition to, Yeshua is now our High Priest in heaven (Hebrews 6:20), and we are forgiven by His blood (Hebrews 7:27).

Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon, better known by the name Maimonides (1135-1204, born in Cordoba, Spain), a prominent Sephardic Jewish philosopher, astronomer and one of the most prolific and influential scholars of the Torah, wrote the Sefer Hamitzvot (The Book of Commandments), indicating the Commandments of Elohim as we know them today.

Being Messianic Jew involves two basic things: One observance of the Torah: 613 Mitzvots of YHWH, and the other is to recognize Yeshua as the Messiah of the scriptures. Many messianic organizations recently have taken the attitude of almost ignoring the observance of the 613 Mitzvot of Elohim: failing to promote it, or in some cases, condemning it.

Very clear the word says:

Joshua 1:8 "This Book of the Law (from Exodus 12 to Deuteronomy 34) shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success".

Also, the Torah says:

Matthew 5:17-19 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

Matthew 22:36-40 "Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment (Shema: Deuteronomy 6:4-5). And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.(Assures the standing of the Law)"

Matthew 24:20 "But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:"( If Yeshua knew thata the commandment of Shabbat (Exodus 20:9-11) will be eliminated, He probably will not have included this frase)

Romans 3:31 "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law."(So the Law was confirmed, not eliminated)

In these two verses, following, we see that to be sinners, we must know the Law of Elohim, because if the Law was eliminated, we would not have sin, for it is through it that we know what is a sin

Romans 3:20 "for by the law is the knowledge of sin".

1 John 3:4 "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."

Romans 7:25 "I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."(Paul is clear, he serves the Law of YHWH)

1 Timothy 1:8 "But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;"

1 John 5:2 "By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.(His Laws)"

1 John 3:21-24 "Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward Elohim . And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments (His Law), and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments ( of Elohim) dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us."

Revelation 14:12 "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of Elohim , and the faith of Jesus."

ALSO AS IT SAYS IN Joshua 1:8 "This Book of the Law (from Exodus 12 to Deuteronomy 34) shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success".

Do you want your way to be prosperous, and successful, read, meditate and do all the commandments of Elohim. Remember the law was not abolished, it is still in force ....

More clear than that impossible.

Daily Torah - Bible Verses

How do we apply scripture to real life as Messianic Jews - Nazarene?

Our sole purpose in life is to love and glorify Elohim, read the Torah everyday and follow all it's commandments through the Hebrew roots of our faith

We comply with what our Lord Yeshua said in Matthew 28:20 "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you" and only then you could be "persuaded in your own mind."

Therefore, "Let no man therefore judge you in food, or in drink, or in respect of an holiday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days" (Col 2:16)

In these pages you will find how you and us as Messianic Jews- Nazarene following the whole Torah applying it to real life and live a successful and meaningful existence as observants of Torah, answering all our questions through it and through Yeshua the Messiah.

Why we use Hebrew names here

Messianic Jews - Nazarene love Elohim and use the original names of the Tanakh - Hebrew Bible in their daily prayers and in their congregations. The words "Jesus" and "Jehova" are not the original names that appear in the Tanakh - Hebrew Bible or the Greek New Testament. They are transliterations that all have use for so many centuries that almost become true. The real names are Yeshua and Elohim. Read More
